Our Process to achieve results

Research the issue

Any successful public relations or grass roots advocacy effort must begin with proper research into an issue.  All too many firms will dive right into a problem doing what they "think" will work to effect change vs. finding out the factors leading to the issue and finding the "pressure points" to get officials to act...

If you dive into a problem too quickly and without a strategy, you will sink....

Heading 6

The process

Advocacy Experts will research the problem, find out what the legal and regulatory issues involve, find appropriate "actors" to advocate the position, draft position papers and media and then organize people to press your case with the decision-makers

Research

Research involves more than just doing Google searches on what has been in the media.  We specialize in getting "doity in the data," digging into various files - even going to a courthouse, if need be, and putting 'two and two together' to develop a story line and strategy

Finding advocates for YOUR issue

Finding advocates to be your spokespeople involves some work by the client.  It's important to find actual constituents of the decision makers and remind them they are voters when going to the microphone or writing a letter.  We specialize in ghost writing and prepping people to do the task...

Meeting Room Table

Getting decision makers' attention

Once we put the advocates before the decision-makers, we go to work by leveraging media, including letters to the editor and blog articles, to push your case so when citizens arrive at a hearing to press their case, they are well prepared and know how to button-hold representatives. and what NOT to do

Knowing Ken from working with him on grassroots and P.R. efforts on behalf of better transportation in the D.C. Metro area, I can attest to his principled leadership, concentrated work ethic, and unselfish desire to help others. Ken was always a pleasure to work with and an integral part of our teams success.

Ken is one of those rare professionals who combines a dogged work ethic with a heart of gold. I have known Ken for close to 10 years now and he has impressed me with his public relations work and community grassroots advocacy. He is smart and driven- never taking "no" for an answer. Ken is one of those guys that you want to have on your team- his experience and collaborative nature make him an asset.

Ken Reid is as passionate and effective an advocate for regional transportation solutions as anyone I know. He provided much of the leadership and energy that resulted in getting the much needed Montrose Parkway approved and built, after a 20-year fight, and in a way that raised the bar for environmentally sensitive transportation design in our region. He honed his communications and grassroots organizational skills over the course of many years, both as a talented publisher, and as a determined and highly articulate civic activist. His commitment to serving his community in Northern Virginia and the greater Washington region is worthy of note, and he has earned the appreciation of many of us who have worked on regional transportation issues over the years.
